Tile Backer Board

Tile Backer Board creates the perfect substrate to tile onto in wet rooms and bathrooms. It is vastly superior to plasterboard and plywood when used in bathrooms and wet rooms, due to its rotproof and waterproof qualities.

We sell Tile Backer Board from brands such as Dukkaboard, JackoBoard, wedi, Schluter, Marmox, No More Ply and BAL. They are available in two types: Extruded foam boards coated with a reinforcing layer, and solid cement fibre or magnesium boards.

Extruded, coated foam boards are lightweight, strong and have excellent insulative and rigidity properties as well as being easy to cut to whatever dimension you require. Dukkaboard, JackoBoard, wedi, Marmox Multiboard and Schluter KERDI-BOARD are extruded foam boards. Schluter KERDI-BOARD differs from the other brands by utilising a composite, 100% waterproof reinforcement layer over the foam core instead of a cement coating.

Cement fibre boards are much heavier than extruded foam boards as they are made from solid cement fibre. They are designed for strengthening floors and other substrates prior to tiling. We sell cement fibre boards from No More Ply and Dukkaboard. No More Ply is also available in a tongue and groove edge format for laying directly onto floor joists.

The BAL Tile Backer Board is similar to the cement fibre boards but differs in that it is made from magnesium oxide, and thus weighs 15-35% lighter than a cement fibre board whilst featuring the same attributes.
