wedi Tile Backer Board consists of a blue core made from extruded polystyrene rigid foam. The rigid foam is reinforced with glass fibre (with alkali-resistant finish) on both sides and coated with a polymer-modified cement. This core is 100% waterproof and remains fully functional even after possible damage.
wedi Tile Backer Board is suitable for a wide range of applications, thanks to it’s special properties. It is primarily used as a carrying element for laying tiles, slabs and natural stone floor coverings using the thin-bed method. It can also be used as an adhesive surface for applying plaster, tile adhesive and other materials.
wedi Tile Backer Board offers excellent moisture protection, effective heat insulation, and can be used in countless ways as a design element in any tiling installation. It is approved for interior use in rooms at a normal temperature. Contact wedi on the application method for special applications (swimming pools, cold stores, external areas etc.). The boards are approved for use on floors in rooms with an ordinary residential load. Wheeled loads with high concentrated loads are not permitted.
wedi Tile Backer Board can be fitted on almost any surface, and is waterproof, heat-insulating, versatile, lightweight, dimensionally stable and quick to process. wedi Fixing Dowels, wedi Board Connectors and wedi Fixing Washers can be used to fix the boards to substrates such as studwork, wooden floors and solid walls/floors.
Use wedi Sealing Tape, Corners & Sealing Gaskets along with wedi 520 Waterproofing Membrane and 610 Adhesive to seal joints between boards, internal and external corner junctions and around protruding pipes.

wedi Construct Building Board has pre-cut grooves either lengthwise or width-wise in the board to allow you to create curved walls and other interior features.
wedi Mensolo L / U Boards are pre-fabricated elements made from 20mm wedi Tile Backer Board. They have many uses but are mainly used for pipe boxing and shelving.
The wedi Vapor Building Board is specifically designed for use in areas with constant high humidity, such as swimming pools, steam rooms, spas, wellness suites, etc. It differs from the standard wedi Tile Backer Board by using a special cement coating on both sides of the boards and a vapour barrier on one side.
wedi Vapor 85 Building Board is the same construction as a wedi Tile Backer Board but also incorporates an integrated fleece vapour barrier on one side. This board is designed for applications such as in bathrooms and wetrooms that are subject to heavy use and have high levels of humidity.
wedi PreLine Building Board features routered grooves for easy installation of hot water heating systems. The factory integrated routered recesses allow for quick and safe installation of water pipes whilst strong insulation properties of the material itself prevent heat escaping to the ground.
