HG Natural Stone Impregnating Protector

Description

HG Natural Stone Impregnating Protector is a pre-treatment product for marble and other types of natural stone such as travertine, granite, etc. HG Natural Stone Impregnating Protector is also suitable for cement and plastic tiles that contain bits of natural stone such as granite.

This natural stone protector sinks deep into the pores of the stone, blocking its natural absorbency. This prevents the penetration of dirt and stains, without affecting the original character of the natural stone or sealing the floor off from moisture from below. The floor can continue to breathe. Apply it on natural stone both indoors and outdoors, and it dries in just a few minutes. One litre is enough for 10-50 square metres of floor area, depending on how porous the floor is.

HG Natural Stone Impregnating Protector is designated as Product 32 in the HG Product Matrix.

Application:

Follow the steps below to prevent dirt and grease stains from penetrating natural stone with the impregnating protector

1. The surface must be completely clean and free of grease and dust.
2. The tile adhesive and grout on new tiled floors must be completely hardened and dry. This is usually 4-6 weeks after installation.
3. Existing floors must be completely dry after cleaning, which will take at least 3 days. Highly porous tiles, such as terracotta, will need even more time to allow the water to completely evaporate from the surface. For this type of tile it is recommended to leave at least one week drying time. However if underfloor heating is installed, this can be switched on and the floor will be dry after 24 hours. However the underfloor heating must be switched off 12 hours prior to applying HG Natural Stone Impregnating Protector.
4. Apply HG Natural Stone Impregnating Protector undiluted, evenly and in one direction with a paint roller. For high gloss floors, after applying polish with a lint-free cloth.
5. If the product has not penetrated and remains on the tiles 10 minutes after application, it will need to be removed straight away with a clean, lint-free cloth.
6. A second treatment of HG Tile Impregnating Protector is recommended for very porous tiles. This second layer can be applied about 1 hour after the first treatment.
7. The floor can be walked on about 3 hours after the last treatment, and is completely protected 12 hours after the final treatment.

Coverage:
Highly porous natural stone: 10-20m² per litre.
Slightly porous an high gloss natural stone: 20-50m² per litre.

Tip:
If a floor treated with this product is not also treated with a specific top layer protector we recommend repeating treatment with HG Natural Stone Impregnating Protector every 1 to 2 years in walkways and intensively used areas. Protection of the top layer by this product will gradually be reduced as a result of general wear.
