Description
weberjoint Silicone Sealant is an acetoxy curing silicone sealant that cures to form a tough, flexible, water tight seal. It is suitable for domestic use as a kitchen, wet room and bathroom sealant, for sealing baths, showers, basins and other sanitary ware. It features anti-fungal properties that suppress mould growth in areas of high humidity.
weberjoint Silicone Sealant is available in transparent and the following colours, colour-matched to match the weberjoint Premium Tile Grout colours: White, Ice Grey, Platinum, Grey, Silver Grey, Misty Grey, Storm Grey, Slate, Charcoal, Black, Ivory, Jasmine, Limestone, Sandstone, Beige, Natural, Dark Sand, Brown.
Things to consider:
- Do not use weberjoint Silicone Sealant on substrates that are: bituminous, based on natural rubber or continuously immersed
- Do not use on sensitive metals, such as mirror-silver, lead and copper, and some natural stones, such as marble, will be affected by the acid released during cure
- Not suitable for aquaria, commercial food processing or medical applications
- Overpainting is not recommended
Preparation:
Prior to using weberjoint Silicone Sealant, ensure that the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease or any other contaminating barrier. For acrylic baths it is recommended that an adhesion test is carried out.
The joint should be designed to be at least 6mm wide and 6 mm deep. When making fillet joints, at least 6 mm sealant bite onto each surface is recommended. Surfaces should be masked with tape to ensure a neat sealant line.
Application:
Do not use weberjoint Silicone Sealant at temperatures below +5°C. Acetic acid is produced during cure. Use only in well ventilated areas.
Carefully cut the tip of the cartridge and then cut the nozzle at a 45° angle and fix to the cartridge. The nozzle should be cut slightly larger than the joint to be filled.
Gun the weberjoint Silicone Sealant evenly into the joint. Tool the joint within 5 – 10 minutes with a spatula wetted with soapy water. This is essential to achieve a good bond to the substrate and provide a smooth finish. Remove any masking tape immediately after tooling. Clean off any excess material or spillages and tools before the sealant cures.
