Schluter SHELF E

Description

The Schluter SHELF E Range of shower shelves are a stylish storage solution for tiled shower areas. The shelves can be directly integrated into the tile assembly during tile installation or retrofitted into the joints of tiled walls, using the 2 mm attachment lugs (wings). The corner installation and an application of silicone ensures optimum load transfer.

The Schluter SHELF E Range of shower shelves are available in three different shapes (S1, S2, & S3) which are each available in 5 style designs: FLORAL, CURVE, PURE, SQUARE and WAVE. These are then each available in 9 different finishes: brushed stainless steel, or aluminium with the true-to-touch TRENDLINE textured finish in 8 different colours – Ivory (TSI), Stone Grey (TSSG), Dark Anthracite (TSDA), Cream (TSC), Beige Grey (TSBG), Bronze (TSOB), Matte Brilliant White (MBW) and Matte Graphite Black (MGS).

Installation:

Corner – installed in conjunction with the tile

Install the tile covering with a joint width of ≥ 2 mm.
Once the tile adhesive has set, position The Schluter Shower SHELF and mark the tile, moving about 1 cm from the outside edge of the shelf toward the inside. Remove the shelf during grout application to protect it against staining. Leave the joints in the marked area open.
Once the grout material has set, the shelf can be put in its final position.
Apply a silicone bead around it on all sides.
Observe the curing time of the silicone bead before using the shelf.

Corner – retrofit installation

Determine the joint where the Schluter Shower SHELF is to be placed.
Now mark the areas where the grout needs removing to accommodate the attachment lugs of the shower shelf (wings).
Remove the grout with a suitable tool (multi-tool, angle grinder etc.). Caution: Observe the depth of the cut to avoid damaging any waterproofing layers installed behind the tiles.
Position the shelf and apply a silicone bead around it on all sides.
Observe the curing time of the silicone bead before using the shelf.

The Schluter Shower Shelf is also available in two other variants – the Schluter SHELF N, which is for use within the Schluter KERDI BOARD N Niches, and the Schluter SHELF W, which is a rectangular shelf designed for straight walls and features anchoring legs for secure fixing behind tiles.

Material:

The brushed stainless steel Schluter SHELF E Shower Shelves are made of stainless steel V2A (material no. 1.4301 = AISI 304). Stainless steel is particularly well suited for applications that, in addition to high mechanical stresses, require resistance to chemicals such as acidic or alkaline substances or cleaning agents. Even stainless steel is not resistant to all chemical stresses, and may be affected by, e.g., hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid or certain chloride and brine concentrations. In certain cases, that also applies to seawater pools. Special anticipated stresses should therefore be verified in advance.

The coated aluminium Schluter SHELF E Shower Shelves are made from pre-treated (chrome-plated) aluminium which is then coated with a special textured polyurethane powder coating – the Schluter Trendline range of finishes. These are specially designed surface coatings that result in a tactile, textured finish. The colour-stable coating is UV and weather-resistant. Visible edges should be protected against abrasion.
