Schluter FINEC AE Anodised Aluminium Tile Trim is a finishing profile for creating neat external edges of tile coverings or rendered surfaces.
Schluter FINEC AE Anodised Aluminium Tile Trim protects the edge of the covering – including glass mosaics – from mechanical damage with a slim, elegant corner formation. It is a high-quality finishing profile made of aluminium. The aluminium features an anodised finish that retains a uniform appearance during normal use.
The surface areas of Schluter FINEC AE Anodised Aluminium Tile Trim must be protected against abrasion or scratching. Aluminium is sensitive to alkaline media. Cementitious materials, in conjunction with moisture, become alkaline, which may result in corrosion depending on the concentration and length of exposure (aluminium hydroxide formation). Remove adhesive or grout immediately from visible areas of the Schluter FINEC AE Tile Trim and don’t cover freshly installed assemblies with a protective foil. In addition, ensure that the profile is solidly embedded in the setting material to prevent water from accumulating in small cavities.
Schluter FINEC AE Anodised Aluminium Tile Trim is available in 2 different coloured finishes, MGS Matte Graphite Black and MBW Matte Brilliant White.
Schluter FINEC AE Anodised Aluminium Tile Trim comes as standard in 2.5 metre lengths, and is available in the following internal height sizes: 2.5mm, 4.5mm, 7mm, 9mm, 11mm and 12.5mm. The 2.5mm option is specially designed for edging tile to plaster/rendered finishes. Also available are optional corner sets for each size for creating neat 3-way square external corners – these comprise 3 x 10cm lengths that fit together to form a neat finish on corner areas.
Schluter FINEC Tile Trim is also available in E Stainless Steel, AC Colour Coated Aluminium, and the TS TRENDLINE Textured Aluminium range of finishes.
Installation:
- Select the appropriate Schluter FINEC AE Anodised Aluminium Tile Trim in accordance with the tile thickness. (the profile with a height of 2.5 mm was specifically developed for edging tile to plaster/rendered finishes).
- Press the trapezoid perforated anchoring leg of the profile firmly into the adhesive and align it (in the case of adjoining plaster or render place the anchoring leg on a suitable adhesive area first).
- Trowel additional adhesive over the trapezoid perforated anchoring leg to ensure full coverage.
Corner formation:
The adjoining tiles in the area of the profile must be chamfered by 45°. When creating 3 way external corners with Schluter FINEC AE Anodised Aluminium Tile Trim, always start by embedding the pre-fabricated parts of the corner set in the tile adhesive. The following work sequence must be observed:
- left corner piece (1 trapezoid perforation),
- right corner piece (2 trapezoid perforations)
- lower corner piece (3 trapezoid perforations)
