Schluter KERDI BOARD Tile Backer Board covers a broad range of application areas for creating level, waterproof substrates for the installation of ceramic and natural stone tiles. With suitable preparation of the joint areas, these structural panels may be used for officially approved bonded waterproofing assemblies.<\/p>\n
Schluter KERDI BOARD Tile Backer Board is made from an extruded XPS hard foam, with a cement-free reinforcement layer laminated onto both sides, together with an anchoring fleece webbing. The surface of the board has gridlines consisting of 10 x 10 mm squares printed on one side. The board is waterproof and can withstand all chemical stresses that typically occur in conjunction with tile coverings, and is completely level and remains free of distortions and decay. It will not rot and is highly stable, even with one side exposed to temperature fluctuations and moisture.<\/p>\n
This board is available in two different panel sizes: 1250mm x 625mm (0.78m\u00b2) or 2600mm x 625mm (1.62m\u00b2). These panels are available in thicknesses of 5, 9, 12.5, 19, 28, 38 and 50 mm.<\/p>\n

This board is suitable for: creating tile substrates on green masonry, existing substrates of all kinds and stud frames made of wood or metal; creating straight or curved (V<\/a>) separating walls; concealing wall mounted installations and piping (pipe boxes – E<\/a> \/ U<\/a>); creating straight or curved (V<\/a>) bathtub and shower surrounds; as well as creating work surfaces, vanities, storage shelves (N<\/a>) or any other bathroom structures. The material is equally suitable for creating level substrates in floor renovation projects e.g. residential bathroom installations designed for foot traffic.<\/p>\n The board is easily cut to size with a utility knife. Each board features 1cm\u00b2 gridlines printed on one side, helpful for neat and quick installation. Panels can be fully adhered in wall areas or alternatively attached with dabs of adhesive. If necessary, the material may be secured with additional wall anchors, Schluter KERDI BOARD ZSD Fixing Anchors<\/a>. In the case of stud frames made of wood or metal, the panels are attached with screws (Schluter KERDI BOARD ZS Fixing Screws<\/a>) and washers (Schluter KERDI BOARD ZT Fixing Washers<\/a>). Joints between panels can also be reinforced with Schluter KERDI BOARD ZSA Joint Reinforcement Tape<\/a> if trowel-applied covering materials such as plaster are to be applied to the board.<\/p>\n To create fully waterproof areas, all seams and joins in the board installation must be fully covered with the seaming tape Schluter KERDI KEBA<\/a> (minimum width 12.5 cm), embedding it in the sealing adhesive Schluter KERDI COLL L<\/a>. The seaming tapes should have at least 5 cm of overlap. Schluter KERDI KEBA Sealing Tape<\/a> is also suitable for creating functional connections to fixed structural elements such as door openings or windows of metal, wood or plastic. For this purpose, apply Schluter KERDI FIX Sealant and Adhesive<\/a> on the adhesive area of the fixed structures and Schluter KERDI COLL L Waterproof Sealing Adhesive<\/a> on the adhesive area of the board and cover the entire joint area with sealing band.<\/p>\n Tiles can be installed directly over the board using the thin-bed method, but other suitable trowel applied coverings or plaster layers can be utilised, please contact Schluter for advice.<\/p>\n Technical Data:<\/strong>
