Description
The Schluter DILEX BWS Expansion Joint is a pre-fabricated movement joint profile for tiled coverings. The perforated anchoring legs, made of recycled rigid PVC, are secured in the tile adhesive beneath the tiles where they transmit occurring movements to the soft CPE movement zone (the upper movement zone is also the visible surface).
The Schluter DILEX BWS Expansion Joint comes in lengths of 2.5 metres, and is available in the following internal height sizes: 4.5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 11mm, and 12.5mm.
Each size is available in the following colours:
BW – brilliant white, RAL 9003
C – cream, no RAL
DA – dark anthracite, no RAL
FG – joint grey, no RAL
G – grey, RAL 7030
GS – black, RAL 9011
HB – light beige, RAL 1019
PG – pastel grey, no RAL
SG – stone grey, no RAL
SP – soft peach, no RAL
The Schluter DILEX BWS Expansion Joint has a movement zone that absorbs compressive, tensile, and shear stresses and is only 5 mm wide, matching common grout joint widths. Consequently, the smaller width absorbs relatively limited movements; this should be taken into account when evaluating the requirements for a specific application.
The Schluter DILEX BWS Expansion Joint is particularly suited as a movement joint for tile coverings installed over Schluter DITRA Matting.
If larger movements within the covering are anticipated, installation of the Schluter DILEX BWB Movement Joint is recommended, as this movement joint has a 10mm movement zone.
The Schluter DILEX BWS Expansion Joint is suitable for both residential use and medium-duty commercial applications such as offices or stores. The profile is also suited for exterior use.
The Schluter DILEX BWS Expansion Joint consists of lateral perforated anchoring legs and side sections made of recycled rigid PVC, connected by a bottom and top movement zone made of soft CPE. The material is resistant to most chemicals commonly encountered in tiled environments and is formulated to inhibit fungi and bacteria growth.
In special cases, the suitability of a proposed type of material must be verified based on anticipated chemical, mechanical, and/or other stresses. The CPE movement zones are UV-stable and free of softening agents.
The Schluter DILEX BWS Expansion Joint is a surface movement profile for tile coverings set in the thin bed method. The profile must align directly over the existing movement joint in the substrate. It is not suited for use above structural expansion joints.
