Description

Mapei Planipatch Xtra Rapid Repair Compound is a fine-grained, ultra-fast drying, thixotropic cementitious patching compound for localised repairs that is easily workable, has excellent adhesion to substrates and is suitable for skim coat down to feather edge thickness. Supplied in a 5kg bag.

Mapei Planipatch Xtra Rapid Repair Compound can be applied up to 50mm in thickness and has excellent self-levelling properties and surface finish. It dries in only 45-60 minutes.

Mapei Planipatch Xtra Rapid Repair Compound can be used for localised repairs and skim coating, even down to a feather-edge, on interior floors, walls, steps, and corners, where rapid hardening, quick drying, and a particularly smooth finish are required. Suitable for surfaces in residential, commercial and industrial areas.

Some application examples:

• Skim coating unfinished, rough-textured substrates, even down to a feather-edge;
• filling voids, holes, and cracks in the substrates (provided they are stable);
• rapid localised leveling or repair before final smoothing with suitable self-levelling compounds;
• patching and localised repairs of stairs, landings, and edges of columns.

Suitable for use on:

• concrete substrates, cement-based screeds, and screeds made using Mapecem, Mapecem Pronto, Topcem, or Topcem Pronto;
• anhydrite and magnesium-based screeds;
• heated floors;
• ceramic and terrazzo tiles;
• stone materials;
• concrete walls and cement plaster;
• old substrates with strongly bonded residues of waterproof adhesives or smoothing compounds.

When mixed with Mapei Latex Plus, Mapei Planipatch Xtra can be used for levelling or patching properly prepared metal and wood surfaces, old substrates with residues of paints, resin, and bitumen-based adhesives, as well as well-bonded resilient and wood flooring. Mapei Planipatch Xtra + Latex Plus can also be used as a primer and adhesion promoter prior to the application of self-levelling smoothing compounds onto difficult substrates.

Mapei Planipatch Xtra is a grey-coloured powder made of special cement binders, selected graded aggregates, and synthetic additives according to a formula developed in MAPEI Research & Development Laboratories. When mixed with water, Mapei Planipatch Xtra forms a thixotropic mortar with good workability and high adhesion to the substrate.

Thanks to its very fine texture, Mapei Planipatch Xtra can be applied down to a feather-edge to obtain a smooth and closed surface. The special binders allow quick shaping and smoothing of the patching compound, in order to obtain the required surface. When used as a patching compound or for localised repairs, Mapei Planipatch Xtra can be used from “feather-edge” to 50 mm. Under normal conditions, the final smoothing with suitable self-levelling compounds and the installation of all types of coverings can be carried out after 45-60 minutes.

When used for levelling and smoothing large areas, the maximum allowed thickness is 10 mm. In this case, the surface is ready for installing any type of covering or for painting after 4-6 hours. Mapei Planipatch Xtra hardens without shrinking or cracking and reaches high mechanical strength, as well as excellent resistance to impact and abrasion.

Substrates smoothed with Mapei Planipatch Xtra have a fine-textured finish, particularly suitable for resilient floor coverings. Mapei Planipatch Xtra provides the lowest possible level of emission since it is certified EMICODE EC1 Plus (very low emission) by GEV and marked with the “Blauer Engel” according to DE-UZ 113.

Recommendations:

• Do not mix the product with more than the recommended amount of water, and do not add water once it has started to set.
• Do not add lime, cement, or gypsum to the mix.
• Do not use on exterior surfaces.
• Do not use on substrates subject to continuous rising damp.
• Do not use at temperatures lower than +5°C.
• Protect the surface in hot and/or windy weather to prevent water from evaporating off too quickly.
• Do not leave Planipatch Xtra bags exposed to direct sunlight or near sources of heat before their use.
• If Planipatch Xtra is used for levelling and smoothing large areas where a wooden floor has to be installed, the minimum thickness must be 3mm.
• Do not use as a final wear surface.

Preparation of the substrate:

The substrate must be dry, sound, clean, and free of dust, loose or detached materials, paint, wax, oil, varnish, rust and gypsum. Cement-based substrates that are not sound enough must either be removed or, where possible, consolidated with Prosfas, Primer MF, Eco Prim PU 1K, etc. Concrete or cement-based substrates with high residual moisture must be treated with Primer MF, Eco Prim PU 1K, or other suitable primers from MAPEI range.

Dusty or highly-porous cementitious substrates must be treated with a coat of Primer G (diluted 1:1 with water) or Mapei Eco Prim T Plus (diluted up to 1:4 with water) or other suitable primers from MAPEI range. Repair non-stable cracks in the substrate with Eporip or Eporip SCR.

Anhydrite screeds may only be levelled-off and repaired with Planipatch Xtra only after the application of a coat of Mapei Primer G (undiluted) or Eco Prim T Plus (diluted up to 1:2 with water) or other suitable primers from MAPEI range.

Thoroughly clean existing ceramic or stone tiles, resilient flooring, resin-based and metal surfaces with a suitable detergent and/or by abrading the surface with a suitable hand or power tool. Mapei Planipatch Xtra mixed with Latex Plus (undiluted or diluted 1:1 with water) can be used for skimming or patching over particularly deformable substrates (such as metal and wood surfaces), resilient and wood flooring (as long as fully bonded to the substrates), old resin substrates, and substrates with residues of bitumen and reactive-based adhesives.

Preparation of the mix:

Pour a 23 kg bag of Mapei Planipatch Xtra into a container with ca. 6.5-6.7 litres of clean water while stirring, and continue mixing with a low-speed mixer until a smooth, homogeneous, lump-free paste is obtained. The amount of Mapei Planipatch Xtra mixed in each batch must be applied within 10 minutes (at a temperature of +23°C).

Application of the mix:

Apply the mix using a long-bladed metal smoothing trowel. If necessary, several coats may be applied consecutively (wait approximately 40 to 50 minutes between each coat, depending on the temperature). When Mapei Planipatch Xtra is used for feather-edge skimming, as a patching compound, or for localised repairs, the surface will be ready for the final smoothing with suitable self-levelling compounds or the installation of all types of floor coverings after 45-60 minutes.

When Mapei Planipatch Xtra is used for levelling and smoothing large areas in thicknesses ranging from 3 to 10 mm, the surface will be ready for installing any type of covering after 4-6 hours.
