Ardex C2 Wide Joint Tile Grout is suitable for grouting wall or floor tile joints from 2mm to 20mm wide. The BS EN 13888 classification for Ardex C2 is CG2A, an “improved cementitious grout with additional characteristic of high abrasion resistance”.
Ardex C2 Wide Joint Tile Grout comes in 3 colours – white, grey and limestone.
The Ardex C2 powder, when mixed with water, produces a soft, creamy, easily worked slump-free mortar with good filling properties, enabling deep joints to be filled in one operation. The hardened grout is weather resistant, unaffected by water and is suitable for internal and external use in dry or wet conditions, including swimming pools with non-aggressive water conditions. The surface of the hardened grout has a textured finish and is not impervious.
NOTE: Where chemical spillages or corrosive liquids are likely to be in contact with the tile joints, use either WA Epoxide Adhesive and Grout or EG8 PLUS Epoxide Adhesive and Grout. In light duty areas, E101 Grout Improver Admix may be incorporated in the Ardex C2 to produce a mortar with elastic and water repellent properties. This is particularly useful when grouting tiles fixed to timber, or when tiling domestic floors and around swimming pools. For heated subfloors and porcelain tiles the grout should include E101 Grout Improver Admix.
Alternatively, FL Rapid Setting Flexible Tile Grout for Wide Joints or FS Flexible Tile Grout for Narrow Joints should be considered. For heavily trafficked areas, especially where the grout will be subjected to high point loads, GK, or ideally WA/EG8 PLUS should be used in preference to Ardex C2.
This will depend upon the tile size, joint width and depth and the grout coverage figure, which for Ardex C2 is 1.7. Use the following to estimate the approximate grout requirements for square or rectangular tiles:-
Stage (all measurements in mm).
1. ADD length and breadth of tile together.
2. MULTIPLY result by joint width.
3. MULTIPLY result by joint depth.
4. MULTIPLY result by Grout Coverage Figure (i.e. for Ardex C2, this is 1.7).
5. DIVIDE result by length of tile.
6. DIVIDE result by breadth of tile.
The result is the material requirement in kg per sq. metre.
